Amen.
Father in heaven, by whose grace the virgin mother of thy incarnate Son was blessed in bearing him, but still more blessed in keeping thy word: Grant us who honor the exaltation of her lowliness to follow the example of her devotion to thy will; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Blessing of An Icon of The Mother of God
Lord God, we acknowledge your infinite glory and the abundance of your gifts. Before the foundation of the world, you appointed Christ the beginning and end of all things.
You chose the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Mother and companion of your Son, the image and model of your Church, the Mother and advocate of us all.
She is the new Eve, through whom you restored what the first Eve had lost. She is the daughter of Zion, who echoed in her heart the longings of the Patriarchs and the hopes of Israel.
She is the poor and lowly servant, who trusted solely in her Lord. In the fullness of time she was delivered of the Sun of justice, the dayspring from on high, Your Son, Jesus Christ. In her flesh she was his Mother, in her person, his disciple, in her love, his servant.
Almighty Father, we ask you now to Bless + sanctify this Icon for the adoration of the Blessed Mother of Your Son.
May all who look upon this sacred image, come to know her protection and maternal care, tracing in their hearts the pattern of holiness. Bless them with faith and hope, love and humility. May they search for peace, strive for justice and realize your love, as they pursue their journey through life towards your heavenly city, where the Blessed Virgin Mary intercedes as Mother and reigns as Queen.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
Blessing of a Statue of The Mother of God
P: Our help is in the name of the Lord.
All: Who made heaven and earth.
P. The Lord be with you.
All: May He also be with you.
Let us pray.
Almighty everlasting God, who do not forbid us to carve or paint likenesses of your saints, in order that whenever we look at them with our bodily eyes we may call to mind their holy lives, and resolve to follow in their footsteps; may it please you to bless + and to hallow + this statue , which has been made in memory and honor of the most blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ. And grant that all who in its presence pay devout homage to the most blessed Virgin, may by her merits and intercession obtain your grace in this life and everlasting glory in the life to come; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
The image is sprinkled with holy water.
Blessing of Roses For the Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary
O God, Creator and Preserver of the human race, who grant us the Holy Spirit with His seven-fold gifts, and who generously bestow eternal salvation: Sanctify, we pray, and bless these roses. We present them before You today, and seek Your blessing upon them, to express our thanks to You, and our devotion towards the blessed Ever-Virgin Mary and her Rosary.
You created these roses as a source of pleasant fragrance and gave them to us to lift our spirits. Then through the power of the holy Cross pour out upon them Your heavenly + blessing.
Signed by the holy + Cross may they receive so powerful a blessing that in the houses and hospitals where they are taken the sick may be healed. From the places where they are kept may the powers of evil flee in fear and terror, nor may they presume again to disturb Your servants.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Another Blessing of a Medal of The Blessed Virgin
O Lord our King, Sovereign of the heavenly and earthly, Father of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, who did command Moses Your servant to place the images of the Cherubim in Your holy tabernacle upon either side of the Mercy Seat. Vouchsafe, we beseech You, O our King to send the grace of Your Holy Spirit and Your Angel upon this medal; and of Your Fatherly goodness to bless (+) and sanctify it, mindful of the mystery which it represents.
And that it may kindle devout affection and increase holiness of life; endow it with the aid of Your protection against all snares of the enemy, make it to be a protection of soul and body.
